Here, have an NPC. If I can get past the first round or so with Balen, you might see this guy popping up more and more frequently.

Name: James McCallin
Age: 27
Height: 5'12"
Eye Colour: Dark brown
Faction: Thieves
Personality: A silent and solitary man, much prefering his own company and his pokemon to anyone else. However, despite this, he loves crowds. Easy pickings. A talented pickpocket, James could steal the shirt off your back without you noticing. When not 'working', he hides in plain sight as a wounded homeless. Despite the bandages all over his body, he hasn't got a single wound and can see perfectly fine with both eyes, though he will only uncover it if he needs to hide quickly. Dislikes fighting, and will happily melt into a crowd leaving his pokemon behind to cover his own escape if it means avoiding injury to himself.
History: After living on the streets for as long as he can remember, the thieves guild was a welcome retreat for James. He was left alone to do his own thing, and as long as he stood by the guild they stood by him if he ran into any trouble he couldn't handle. With the start of war, and everyone in uproar, James has noticed more and more 'oppurtunities' arising for riskier and riskier targets. Anything he can do to maintain this uproar could be very good for business.

Name: Kellin
Species: Sableye
Gender: Female
Nature: Naughty - Thoroughly cunning
With quick fingers rivaling those of her trainer, Kellin has a penchant for mischief and a sadistic sense of humour to accompany it. Enjoys practical jokes ranging from bucket of water over a door to those of the lose-a-limb variety. Only pokemon she gets along with are those also of the ghost variety.

Name: Aspol
Species: Pineco
Gender: Male
Nature: Hardy - Capable of taking hits
If James is trying to escape, you can be sure that he'll be exploiting Aspols abilities at every oppurtunity. From laying spikes to blowing up the scenery, Aspol has a trick for any occasion. Doesn't do much else though. Just... sits there. Watching. Waiting.
